Ayurveda College
San Diego College of Ayurveda is an online, distant learning, and 'interactive' Ayurveda college established in April 2009, by Pandit Atul Krishna Das, and, Monica Bhatia, PhD.
Pandit Atul Krishna, who, is a Sanskrit and Vedic Scholar wanted to establish an affordable, online college, based on Samkhya as well as Vedantic principles. The team wanted to make Ayurvedic education 'affordable'.
Midori Hatekayama, graduate of our own institute, Tai Chi Master, Yoga Teacher, Herbalist, and Ayurvedic Practitioner joined us, after completing her 500 HR AWP Course, and, obtaining her 200 hr Yoga Alliance Certification.
Dr. Sahana Kedlaya, BAMS is new to the team.
SDCOA instructional design team created small chunks of experiential, case based learning courses, that could be applied and integrated with any holistic health. Readymade Ayurvedic Daily Regimen, Diet and Ahara Protocols for Vata, Pitta and Kapha issues, as well as Herb Plans are suggested.
The team sought to establish an 'online' but HIGHLY Interactive program with LIVE classes at a very affordable price.
SDCOA (San Diego College of Ayurveda) was first established for offering smaller online courses, for holistic health professionals. However, it moved on and has organically grown bigger, and, one of the best distant learning Ayurveda course providers in U.S. and Canada.
SDCOA is affordable, interactive, flexible and offer experiential learning programs. SDCOA, also, offers intensive online courses, 500 Hour Ayurveda Practitioner course, and, advanced professional training program for the study of Ayurveda via distant learning as well as Interactive LIVE classes conducted via WEBEX LEARNING PLATFORM.
There are VIRTUAL live classes few times a week at a VIRTUAL CLASSROOM LOCATION. Students and Instructor may, interact, video share presentations. Students see the teacher use whiteboard, attempt quizzes - ask questions. All like in a REAL classroom, and, in REAL TIME. However, all the students and teachers are logging in from home, in front of a computer.
Students also have the option to log in through iphone, ipad, blackberry, Android.
SDCOA offers a comprehensive curriculum, with two levels of programs leading to certification as a Ayurvedic Wellness Practitioner. Our Ayurveda school offers a variety of shorter length workshops and seminars, and trains students to incorporate holistic Ayurvedic Herbs, Ayurvedic Dietitics and Nutrition protocols as well as Ayurvedic Panchakarma therapies with their current practices. Our students are physical therapists, R.N's, Western Medical Doctors, Western Herbalists, Yoga Teachers, Reiki Teachers, Homeopathic Doctors to name a few.
SDCOA believes in keeping the 'online' class number very small. The teacher student ratio is 1 per 6 students.
New students get assigned Student coaches. (Students that have completed the course, and doing internship or externship).
The training is personalized, and experiential. We are dedicated to providing the high quality education and health care in the field of Ayurveda - at a fraction of a price.
Compare our prices to any other school in United States. We offer our courses at $5 per Credit Hour.
Although, SDCOA does not accept any federal funding or give out loans - we offer flexible payment options.
And, the student saves on travel cost.
If the student misses a 'class', the live classes are recorded. Make up Classes are also available.
WHAT OUR STUDENTS OUR SAYING?
"I thought an Online college, meant, it would be mostly distant learning at my own pace. However, I am surprised how INTERACTIVE and Dynamic the course is. With 3 classes a week, plus, online access to student forums, virtual resources, peer reviews, case studies, it is by far the best learning experience I have ever had. And, I have a Masters Degree already" -- Student, San Diego College of Ayurveda
